Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: In May 2016, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG) introduced the “Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana 2.0” in India. Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY) is a program launched by the Government of India in 2016 to provide free LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) connections to women from low-income families.

The aim is to provide clean cooking fuel like LPG to rural and poor people who use traditional cooking fuel like wood, charcoal, cow dung cake etc. Its effects on the health of rural women and the environment.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a transformative initiative launched by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main objective of the project is to promote the use of clean cooking fuel, especially liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), to replace cooking methods that usually involve burning wood. solids such as wood, mud cake, coal.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was officially launched on 1 May 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The project was designed as a national-level initiative to provide free LPG connections to women from below poverty line (BPL) households across the country. The plan is part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure universal access to clean energy, reduce health risks from indoor air pollution and improve the lives of women in rural India.

  • The target under this scheme is to provide 8 crore LPG connections to underprivileged households by March 2020.
  • On 7 September 2019, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India issued the 8 crore LPG connection in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
  • Provision of 8 crore LPG connections under this scheme has also helped to increase LPG coverage from 62% on 1st May 2016 to 99.8% on 1st April -April 2021.
  • Ujjwala 2.0: Additional distribution of 1.6 million LPG connections under PMUY Scheme and special facilities to migrant households. This program was launched in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi.

Benefits:

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: Financial assistance for PMUY fellowships provided by Government of India – Rs. 1600 (for connection of 14.2 kg cylinder / Rs. 1150 for 5 kg cylinder). The financial assistance will cover the following:

  • Security Deposit of Cylinder – Rs. 1250 for 14.2 kg cylinder/ Rs. 800 for 5 kg cylinder.
  • Pressure Regulator – Rs. 150.
  • LPG Hose – Rs. 100.
  • Domestic Gas Consumer Card – Rs. 25.
  • Inspection/ Installation/ Demonstration charges – Rs. 75.

In addition, all PMUY beneficiaries will receive their first LPG and gas stove (hob) for free connection and financing by Oil Marketing Companies (OMC).

Step 1: You can download the forms from the official website (below) or get them from your nearest LPG dealer.

Step 2: Fill the application form with required information including personal details, bank account details and LPG Supplier preference.

Step 3: Attach the required documents along with the application form. These documents include identity proof, address proof and BPL category proof.

Step 4: Submit the completed application form with supporting documents to the nearest LPG distributor.

Step 1: Apply online for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 from the official website.

A. 1. Aadhaar Card of applicant will only be considered as Proof of Identity (POI) for applicants of all states except Assam and Meghalaya. 2. This would also serve the purpose of Proof of Address (POA) if the current address of applicant is same as per her Aadhaar. 3. In case, applicant address is different from that mentioned in Aadhaar card, then she can submit any other documents for POA as listed in the Annexure – A

The Distributor has to make efforts in getting the Aadhaar enrolment of such adults in the family and show receipt of same, applicant can be enrolled under UJJWALA 2.0. Exemption will be provided only in case of death of any adult family member or separation of any family member due to marriage etc. with submission of documentary proof like death certificate, marriage certificate etc
